Exploring Eastern Greenland

trip to the Edge of the World


August 2025, we ventured into one of the last truly unspoiled wildernesses on Earth, the North-East Greenland National Park. Along Greenland’s remote northeast coast, we navigated the world’s largest fjord system, where towering mountains rise sharply from icy waters and the landscapes shift constantly under the Arctic light.


The region revealed its quiet, dramatic beauty at every turn. Wildlife was scarce but unforgettable: a flash of white from an Arctic hare, the heavy silhouettes of musk oxen grazing in the distance, and, with great luck, the distant figure of a polar bear crossing the pack ice.


Reaching Sabine Island and Pendulum Island, we encountered the drifting sea ice, a humbling reminder of the raw forces that shape this part of the planet.


On our way back toward Constable Point and Nerlerit Inaat Airport, we paused in Ittoqqortoormiit, one of the most remote settlements on Earth, where about 350 inhabitants live at the very edge of the Arctic.
